Government commits to publishing plans for care

Over 10,000 Independent Age campaigners took action to make sure that the government didn't forget their commitment to fixing social care.

New care home indicators developed

We created 8 care home quality indicators with Healthwatch and asked our campaigners to write to their MPs so that they are implemented locally.

We coordinated a letter to the Prime Minister, signed by 75 organisations and leading voices in health and care

The letter called on her to take a bold approach and establish a cross-party process involving MPs from all parties to find a sustainable solution to the problems in health and social care funding.

Over 16,000 of you signed our letter to David Cameron, calling on him to take decisive action to address the challenges facing our NHS and care services.

Ending unfair care home top-up fees

We successfully campaigned for a tightening of the rules on care home top-up fees, preventing families of some of our most vulnerable older people paying for care that it is the responsibility of the council to fund.
