Our letter to the Prime Minister

Health and social care services are facing huge challenges. Over the past few months, we’ve regularly heard that services are being reduced, targets are missed and people are struggling to get the vital health and care support that they need.

At Independent Age, we’re clear that 2017 simply cannot be another year where these huge issues are ducked. That’s why we have coordinated a letter to the Prime Minister, signed by 75 organisations and leading voices in health and care, calling on her to take a bold approach and establish a cross-party process involving MPs from all parties to find a sustainable solution to the problems in health and social care funding.

Janet, our Chief Executive, explains why this is so important:

“By 2030, it is estimated that there will be nearly 16 million people in the UK aged 65 and over. Brave thinking is required from all sides of the political divide to meet the needs of our ageing population. We need to see recommendations that make a difference to the millions of people who rely on health and care services now and in the future".
