Why work with us?

At Independent Age, we believe that no older person should face financial hardship. That’s why, by 2027, our goal is to have improved the lives of one million older people. Our impact across policy campaigning, information and advice, grant-making and partnerships improves lives by increasing the financial wellbeing of older people in financial hardship, enabling greater choice and independence in wider areas of life. And we simply couldn’t do what we do without the amazing work of our supporters, volunteers and colleagues.

Our values

Having been shaped by the people who work here, our values reflect the mission of Independent Age and the teams that exist within it. Whether in finance or fundraising, every team has these six key values in common, bringing us together and guiding our decisions.

Our employee forum representatives work in partnership with teams and departments to support engagement with our values in ways that work best for them. Our office thank-you boards are just one way colleagues are encouraged to highlight those people who demonstrate our values day to day and make amazing things happen.

Graphic showing our values - Purpose driven (the experience, needs and views of older people inform everything we do), compassionate (we listen, care and take action), expert (our work is evidence based and solution focused), collaborative (we work in partnership to maximise our impact), accountable (we work with integrity and transparency), inclusive (we value diversity and always treat everyone fairly with dignity and respect)

Statement on the recruitment of ex-offenders

Inclusivity is one of our core values and we welcome applications from a wide range of candidates. Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working with us; it will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances of your offence(s). You can find further information in our Statement on the Recruitment of Ex-Offenders.
