Following figures from the Health and Social Care Information Centre on social isolation and the experience of social service users, we had a day of appearing on BBC One, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live and ITV Granada to discuss the issue of isolation.

BBC Breakfast

In connection with Hen Power and Campaign to End Loneliness, our Chief Executive appreared on the early morning programe to give our response to the figures, which you can read here.

BBC Radio 4 - World at One

In the afternoon, Sheila Breen-Rickerby talked to James Robbins on BBC Radio 4's World at One about Independent Age's befriending scheme she found helped with her loneliness.

BBC Radio 5 Live - Richard Bacon

This was followed by Winiefred Green joining Richard Bacon to talk about her experience, in a heart-rendering interview that led to futher discussion throughout the programme.

ITV News Granada

Winifred then appeared on ITV Granada which covers the North-West of England to tell her story again.

This activity created a massive surge in website visitors and volunteer visitor sign-ups.
