1st October – Older People’s Day

Celebrate the vital work of Independent Age and the amazing people we support on one of our most important days the year! Gather with friends, family and your local community to celebrate Older People’s Day. Share a pot of tea and slice of cake, while raising money to help older people across the UK through our Autumn Big Tea Coffee Morning.

5th – 11th October - National Knitting Week

Knitting has become a pastime for people of all ages and a wonderful way to bring communities and generations together. If you and your friends, colleagues or family members are active knitters, this is your chance to show off your wares with a craft sale. Alternatively you could put on an out-of-the-ordinary fashion show where all garments are hand knitted! Charge a small entrance fee and sell all the items that are shown.

Go “trick or treating” at your place of work! Dress up in a Halloween costume and ask colleagues to give a donation instead of the traditional sweets (you could even create forfeits, as “tricks”, for those who say no!).

Or hold a pumpkin carving competition at your work or club. Ask for a donation to enter, and the best carved pumpkin design wins a prize.

If you would like to hold any of these activities we want to hear from you, so please get in touch with the events team!
