BlackRock Gives is an employee-led initiative where employees can nominate charities and not-for profit organisations they care about to receive a grant. Since 2020 Independent Age has been supported by BlackRock Gives. Our telephone befriending service was first supported by the funding during COVID-19, when older people were incredibly isolated. During the pandemic, some BlackRock employees became volunteers in this service and could hear first-hand the difficulties older people were experiencing.

Independent Age’s strategy is focused on preventing older people from experiencing financial hardship. We are so pleased BlackRock has joined us on this journey. Currently BlackRock supports our advice service, which helps older people to access benefit entitlements and answers social care and housing enquiries. 

We always enjoy speaking with BlackRock staff at lunch-and-learn sessions and seeing their fundraising efforts.
