Snowdon by Night (Yr Wyddfa)

Snowdon

Walk for Independent Age

Snowdonia National Park in North Wales is synonymous with beautiful, rugged landscapes . The highest mountain in Wales at 1085m, its Welsh name is Yr Wyddfa, reputedly the burial place of a mythical giant. Standing at the summit by moonlight will be an unforgettable experience, as will seeing the sunrise from the mountain slopes. As you descend, you will be able to see the spectacular landscapes open up before you as the day grows lighter. You'll then get to celebrate your huge achievement with a slap-up breakfast!

Sign up on the Discover Adventure website and select the date you would like to take part. The 2023 date options are: 10 - 11 June 2023 and 19 - 20 August 2023. Choose the fundraising option to pay a registration fee of £49 and commit to raising £350 for Independent Age.

If these dates don't work for you, please email us at events@independentage.org and we will discuss other options.

Stand at the summit by moonlight

You'll meet in the evening in Llanberis, the popular village at the foot of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa). The challenge follows the Llanberis Path, which roughly shadows the route of the famous Snowdon Mountain Railway. It's the most gradual route up Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) with good conditions underfoot.

You'll receive support from experienced Discover Adventure leaders and back-up support on the mountain.

You can view the itinerary for the challenge here: Climb Mount Snowdon at Night (Mountain Trek Challenge) - Discover Adventure

Why support Independent Age?

The money you raise will support people like Veronica. Veronica is 82 years old and lives in the Southeast of England. She called our Helpline as she was struggling with rising electricity bills. Veronica was relying on extra jumpers when she was cold instead of turning on the heating, to keep down costs.

The Helpline helped Veronica to understand more about the money she was entitled to. Now, Veronica is receiving pension credit. This is a crucial top up for her income.

By fundraising for Independent Age, you will provide a support system for older people going through difficult times.
