About Run the One
Run the One will return in 2020
We all know that being active is important to our overall health and wellbeing, especially as we get older, but it can be daunting and hard to know where to start if you have had a long break from exercise, or have never been very active.
Run the One is a brand new Independent Age initiative: running groups for ordinary people to help you get active and make new friends.
Each group is led by a trainer who will support you all the way to being able to run, jog or walk one mile – regardless of how fast you can do it. After each session, everyone is invited to go to a nearby cafe together, so you can compare notes on progress and get to know each other other a cup of tea and slice of cake.
Your weekly sessions build up to the Celebration Mile, which your family and friends are welcome to attend to cheer you on.
This will give you the chance to raise money for Independent Age, every penny of which will go towards helping vulnerable older people.
