Help a lonely older person

reconnect with loved ones

Many older people who are ill, shielding or anxious about coronavirus are facing a lonely Christmas without family and friends. Please give an isolated older person the technology they need to stay in touch this Christmas.

Give Christmas presence to help end loneliness

Over 1 million older people in the UK are chronically lonely. But in this difficult year, technology is often the only answer to reconnecting them with family, friends and society.

For the 2 million older people living in poverty, buying a new device simply isn’t an option for them. That’s where the new Reconnections service from Independent Age comes in.

78-year-old Ruth stayed at home to protect her health, but she missed her family and became depressed. Through Reconnections, she was provided with a smart display device. She now enjoys spending time with loved ones online, and looks forward to a happier Christmas.

As well as providing devices to people who can’t afford them, we also give training and support to make sure that they stay safe and confident online. Please donate to help an older person access the technology they need this Christmas.

I now have access to an electronic device which is new to me and a godsend. I can now speak with family every day and see my grandchildren, who I used to only see 3 times a year. Terry
