Brian Cox, Jane Asher and Sue Holderness have teamed up with Independent Age to urge older people to check their Pension Credit eligibility before the 21st December. This is the cut-off date for the Winter Fuel Payment. The campaign was covered by MailOnline, Express, Birmingham Live, STV and various regional outlets.
Just 7,000 physical bank branches remain in the UK and it is leaving older people facing digital exclusion, a new report has found. Ahead of the Budget, Independent Age's Chief Executive Joanna Elson CBE wrote an opinion piece featured in the Big Issue calling on the Government to protect older private renters from homelessness. This can be achieved by committing to uprating Local Housing Allowance annually, so that Housing Benefit can cover the rent of at least the cheapest 30% of local private rental markets.
