What: Tea-tasting workshop in aid of Independent Age
When: 8 October 2011, from 11am - 12.15pm
Where: Petersham Nurseries, Church Lane, off Petersham Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 7AG
Tickets: £10 for the talk and tea-tasting, £25 with lunch.
Independent Age, the charity which tackles older people’s poverty and loneliness, invites you to a tea-tasting workshop at Petersham Nurseries, Richmond.
In kind support of Independent Age and our annual, national fundraising event, The Big Tea, Jennifer Wood of the award-winning Canton Tea Company will take you on a full tour of tea: from the subtle flavours of white teas to the more robust flavours of the Oolong teas. Learn the truths and myths of tea as well as how to brew the perfect cup.
From tea connoisseurs to those who just enjoy their mid-morning cuppa, there will be something suited to everyone’s taste. A light lunch will be available after the workshop.
We’ve taken a look into your cup and the future holds... more tea!

About Independent Age:
Independent Age is a unique and growing charity: a support community for thousands of older people across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. About the Canton Tea Company:
Canton Tea Co is a British tea company trading in high grade, whole leaf Chinese tea. They have exclusive access to some of the best jasmine, white, green, oolong, black and authentic puerh teas available. In their first year, they scooped six Golds at the 2009 Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards. Their Jasmine Pearls won the top three-star gold award, endorsing it as the best available in the UK. About the Big Tea:
From 1-7 October (which includes UN International Day for Older People on 1 October), Independent Age is holding The Big Tea. The concept is really simple: we are asking as many people as possible to join us and have a cuppa for older people. It could be tea for two, afternoon tea with friends or neighbours, or just a tea break in the office. Through the efforts of all those who get involved this year, we hope to raise £20,000 for the charity. Visit our website for more details.
