Independent Age Chief Executive, Janet Morrison said,

“This is a very welcome move towards achieving zero-tolerance of abuse in care homes but it will require more rigorous inspection by the CQC, and in particular the ability to differentiate between a home's bureaucratic failings and genuine lapses in underlying care.

“We also need to tackle poor care at the roots by putting in place good management, proper training and better wages. That requires more realistic rates than current social care funding allows.”
