Commenting on Matt Hancock’s speech about companies and individuals needing to take responsibility for their employees' and own health, George McNamara, Director of Policy and Influencing at Independent Age, said:
“Government has a clear role when it comes to improving the health of the nation. Older people have suffered the brunt of damaging cuts to public health budgets over the last ten years. This urgently needs to change, and today’s announcement will mean very little unless there is a clear commitment to funding the vital support that older people need to live more healthily in later life.”
