Commenting on NHS England’s summary of winter 2014/15, Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Independent Age, said:

“Hospitals have been under unprecedented pressure this past few months and these figures suggest that, without action, there will be little respite in the years to come. With 190,000 more people – mainly older patients – attending A&E than last winter, the worry is that we’ll continue to see more frail and elderly people waiting for treatment every winter unless we fundamentally rethink and properly finance our faulty model of health and social care.”
