In response to the ADASS Budget Survey, Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Independent Age, said:
“This survey presents a deeply worrying picture of continued decline in social care funding. The government's flagship Care Act may become obsolete before the ink is even dry simply because there is not enough money to fund it properly - we estimate that residential care alone is underfunded by £700 million. Increasingly those in need of care, and their relatives, are being left to pick up the tab in this desperately underfunded system.”
