Commenting onthe Public Accounts Committee Report 2017-19: Reducing emergency admissions, George McNamara, Director of Policy at Independent Age, the older people’s charity, says:

“This report paints a damning picture of older people being let down by a range of community health and social care services. If such services were properly funded, older people would be more likely to recover more quickly from illness and avoid emergency hospital admissions as their condition deteriorates. It’s time for the government to properly invest in prevention and keep older people out of hospital unnecessarily.”
