Commenting on a new report from The King’s Fund and The Health Foundation on social care funding, entitled ‘Fork in the road: Next steps for social care funding reform’, George McNamara, Director of Policy and Public Affairs at Independent Age, the older people's charity, says:

“There are no easy options for funding social care, but it is clear that for many older people the system is broken. This report adds to the weight of evidence that the government needs to deliver bold, radical change in the way we fund social care. If the public are to be asked to pay more to fund social care, it must be clear what difference this will make to the quality of care available. The government must not squander this significant opportunity to deliver a new social care contract that meets the needs and expectations of older people and their families now and in the future.”
