Commenting on a new report from IPPR, entitled "Ethical Care: A bold reform agenda for adult social care", Deborah Alsina MBE, Chief Executive of Independent Age, said:

“The report is absolutely right that fixing the social care crisis is not just about money, even though finding a sustainable funding solution is necessary. The government also needs to ensure that social care services are transformed so that older people are getting the care they really need.

“To genuinely improve people’s experiences we will need to see reform to the way providers operate, as well as more investment in recruiting, training, developing and retaining the social care workforce, without whom the system cannot function.

“Ultimately, older people and all others who receive social care need a system that works for them, both in terms of the care they receive and the cost.”
