Commenting on the Health state life expectancies by Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD): England, 2013 to 2015 figures published by Office for National Statistics, Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Independent Age, said:

“Health inequalities remain stubbornly high across England. It is utterly unacceptable that someone experiencing the highest level of deprivation can expect nearly twenty years fewer healthy life years than someone with the lowest level of deprivation.  If we are serious about reducing the almost unbearable pressure on the NHS and social care systems, reducing health inequality is vital. We need a long-term solution on social care that works for everyone. No one should be excluded from the benefits of a health and care system that helps people live longer lives in better health.”
