Commenting on the Care Quality Commission’s Community mental health survey 2018, George McNamara, Director of Policy and Influencing at Independent Age, said:

“Older people have been airbrushed out in contrast to last year’s survey results. Greater recognition must be given to older people’s mental health and lack of resources and support.  Last year’s CQC report and this week’s report from the Royal College of Psychiatrists show how older people’s mental health needs are being overlooked. The forthcoming NHS ten-year plan is a prime opportunity to address the growing need for mental health services for an increasing older population.”
