Commenting on the appointment of Tracey Crouch as the new Minister for Loneliness, Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Independent Age, the older people's charity, said:
“Loneliness can affect people of any age and can have a significant impact on health and wellbeing. The creation of a Ministerial position to tackle loneliness is a welcome sign that the Prime Minister recognises the scale of the problem. The reasons for loneliness can be complex and there needs to be a National Strategy that sets out solutions at a local and national level and enables whole communities, neighbours and families to play their part. If we want to tackle loneliness, everyone has a part to play, and we look forward to continuing to work with the Jo Cox Commission and government on this.”
