Commenting on the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Longevity's report, The Health of the Nation, Deborah Alsina, chief executive of the national older people’s charity Independent Age, said:

“Later life can be an enjoyable period of life, but this report highlights that many people across the country are still living their later years in poor health. A clear focus on prevention is key to tackling this and needs to be a priority regardless of age. Independent Age hopes that these findings prompt the Government to take meaningful action to meet its own target of adding five extra healthy years by 2035 .”
