Commenting on the ADASS Autumn Survey of directors of adult social services, Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Independent Age, the older people’s charity, said:
"It's worrying to see that so many leading council figures highlight quality of care as a major concern across the board. When choosing a care home or care at home, older people and their families must have a meaningful choice of high-quality care. Yet our research earlier this year showed huge variations in the quality of care homes across England, with 3 in 5 care homes in some areas rated as not good enough. The Government must urgently set out in the long-promised Green Paper how it will ensure good quality care services are available to older people now and in the future."
