Commenting on today’s report from the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, Chief Executive of older people’s charity Independent Age, Deborah Alsina MBE said:

“People paying for and arranging their own care must be aware of their options if something isn’t right with the care support they are receiving.

“We support the Ombudsman’s call for a statutory requirement for care providers to signpost people to their local complaints process, and to their right to access the Ombudsman. This would not only provide clarity for people using care, but also give providers opportunities to learn from the experiences of people using their services, and use these insights to adapt and improve.”
