Employees at Aldermore, the specialist bank, have chosen Independent Age, the older people’s charity, as their Charity of the Year for 2018. The Bank’s employees aim to raise funds for the UK charity, which offers free information and advice for older people and their families.
Independent Age was founded over 150 years ago, with a mission to enable older people to stay independent and live well with dignity, choice and control. As well as offering regular friendly contact and a strong campaigning voice, the charity provides older people and their families with clear, free and impartial advice on issues that matter: care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility.
To select their Charity of the Year, Aldermore’s employees were asked to nominate causes and the winning charity was chosen through a Bank-wide vote. Independent Age was put forward by an employee from Aldermore’s Reading office who is an existing volunteer for the charity.
Throughout 2018, the Aldermore Community Team (ACT) will hold a series of fundraising events for Independent Age, including bake sales and sponsored runs. The Bank will match the amount raised at each event, up to a maximum of £250, via its “pound for pound” scheme.
