Celebrating older women

Valda James

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Valda, who is 92, tells us about arriving in the UK in the 1960s and overcoming shyness and uncertainty to become the first black mayor of the London Borough of Islington in the 1980s. Valda is an inspiration to us all!
