There are over 1 million carers over the age of 65 in the UK, the majority of them women. Over 80% of older carers state that caring has had a negative impact on their physical and mental health.

Many older people report feeling very lonely as a result of their caring responsibilities. They are unable to get out and about to see friends or take part in social activities.
