Great Birmingham Run

The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run is the Midlands’ biggest and best running event, with thousands of Brummie runners taking to the streets every year to challenge themselves and raise cash for charity.

There’s everything you’d expect from a Great Run – notorious start line hype, top on-route entertainment and an event village that feels more like an after party – but the carnival atmosphere and the passion and spirit of the runners is all Birmingham. Expect inspiring sights, iconic landmarks and incredible support all along the 10k and half marathon route.

The money you raise will support people like Veronica. Veronica is 82 years old and lives in the Southeast of England. She called our Helpline as she was struggling with rising electricity bills. Veronica was relying on extra jumpers when she was cold instead of turning on the heating, to keep down costs.

The Helpline helped Veronica to understand more about the money she was entitled to. Now, Veronica is receiving pension credit. This is a crucial top up for her income.

By fundraising for Independent Age, you will provide a support system for older people going through difficult times.

You’ll receive fantastic support from our friendly team from the moment you sign up until you cross that finish line.

We’ll provide you with:

• A free Independent Age technical running vest to wear on race day

• A well-deserved certificate, totalling the amazing amount you raise for us

• Fundraising and training support from our dedicated Events team

• Cheer points and support along the route

If you already have your own place in the Great Birmingham Run, we’d love to have you on the team! You’ll receive all the same support as our charity place runners. You’ll have no registration fee or fundraising target, but we’ll help you raise as much as you can.
