Help if you're hard of hearing
If you are hard of hearing, you can still get in touch using Relay UK. With Relay UK, you can communicate with our Helpline using your computer, tablet or smartphone. Just download the app from the Relay UK website and a relay assistant will turn your text into speech. When our advisers respond, their speech will then be turned into text for you to read.
Help and advice in your language
If English is not your preferred language, we can give you information and support using a translation service.

If you have a question or need support, our friendly Helpline team is here to listen. If we can help right away, we will. And if you need advice on something a bit more complicated, we’ll arrange a free chat with one of our specialist advisers. We try to help with any issues affecting older people.

Our specialist advice service for older people
Independent Age's specialist advisers can help with issues like:
- how to claim welfare benefits and other ways to maximise your income
- housing options to help you stay independent at home
- hospital discharges
- arranging and paying for care.
You can also contact us for advice in writing. Email advice@independentage.org. We aim to respond within 3–5 working days.
Our advice service holds the AQS Quality Mark in recognition of the high-quality service that Independent Age delivers.
Order Independent Age publications
Our Helpline team and specialist advisers may send you some of our publications to support you. Our free guides and factsheets are full of information to help you boost your income, find the care you need, choose the right place to live and more. You can download them or order printed copies.
If you need them in other formats, such as large print, braille or audio, call the Helpline to order your free copies.
