Get Involved Community Volunteer

Are you short on time but full of community spirit? Do you have a talent you’re bursting to share? Or would you like to play your part in supporting local older people? If any of these sound like you, then our Get Involved Community Volunteer role could be a great opportunity for you!
Independent Age are looking for volunteers in Essex, Nottingham, Newcastle and Middlesbrough to get involved in their local communities in ways that support older people to live well with dignity, choice and purpose.  We aim to bring people together and to support them to live independently. As a Get Involved Community Volunteer you can do this in a way that suits you.

It may be that you are a passionate painter, and you’d like to share your talent with a group of older people in your community. It might be that you’ve got some spare time in the week and could attend some of our information workshops and chat to people and serve cups of tea. Or it might be that you’re happy just to be available in case we hold an event locally and need a few extra hands on the day.

Essentially, if there are ways in which you’d be keen to support older people in your community, then we want to hear from you!

The role could involve

  • Sharing a skill or talent with one person or a group of older people.
  • Attending and supporting local events.
  • Supporting older people to feel part of their community.

To be a Get Involved Community Volunteer you don’t need any specific skills, just lots of enthusiasm and a willingness to support local older people. You can commit as much or as little time as you have available to this volunteering role and get involved with activities as best works for you. We’ll keep in touch regularly about upcoming opportunities and support you throughout the role.

This flexible volunteering role is a great way to support Independent Age’s work in a way that fits around your other commitments.
