Free personal care

Free personal care would mean that all older people can get the support they need with activities like washing, getting dressed, and in and out of bed, free at the point of use, like the NHS.

Politicians in Westminster have consistently failed to act, so we are calling on local politicians to pledge to support free personal care and keep up the pressure on the government.

"At Southampton City Council we’re fully behind Independent Age’s campaign for free personal care. We have already passed a motion calling for care to be free at the point of need and we urge the Government to deliver this policy urgently for older people in our local community and across the country"

Councillor Lorna Fielker, Cabinet Member for Adult Care
