Join us at the incredible Colchester Zoo for the unique opportunity to run starting between the Rhinos, Elephants, Giraffes and Zebras! You will also receive free entry into the Zoo after the race.

Starting and finishing within the Zoo
With one of the most unique start lines in the UK, the race both starts and finishes within the Zoo itself. The first and last kilometres are within the grounds of Colchester zoo, with the route navigating you past Elephants, Tigers and Hyenas to name a few.
The remainder of the course is made up of fully closed country roads which offer a picturesque run through the Essex countryside.

Why run for Independent Age?
The money you raise will support people like Veronica. Veronica is 82 years old and lives in the Southeast of England. She called our Helpline as she was struggling with rising electricity bills. Veronica was relying on extra jumpers when she was cold instead of turning on the heating, to keep down costs.
The Helpline helped Veronica to understand more about the money she was entitled to. Now, Veronica is receiving pension credit. This is a crucial top up for her income.
By fundraising for Independent Age, you will provide a support system for older people going through difficult times.

You’ll receive fantastic support from our friendly team from the moment you sign up until you cross that finish line.
We’ll provide you with:
• An Independent Age technical running vest to wear on race day. This will be sent out to you once you've raised £50 towards your target.
• A well-deserved certificate, totalling the amazing amount you raise for us
• Fundraising and training support from our dedicated Events team

I have my own place
If you already have your own place in the Colchester Zoo Stampede 10k, we’d love to have you on the team! You’ll receive all the same support as our charity place runners. You’ll have no registration fee or fundraising target, but we’ll help you raise as much as you can.
