Who is the training for and what will I learn?
This 60-minute online course (via Teams) aims to give frontline workers an overview of support for housing costs, including Housing Benefit and Support for Mortgage Interest.
This course is aimed at non-welfare benefits advice roles.
By the end of the session, you should be able to:
- Understand what Housing Benefit is, and the different eligibility criteria
- Understand how Housing Benefit is calculated and when someone may be subjected to a reduced award
- Explain to people in later life how to claim Housing Benefit
- Understand what Support for Mortgage Interest is and who may be eligible
- Explain to people in later life how to claim Support for Mortgage Interest
- Have an awareness about other possible financial housing cost support
- Know when to ask for or signpost to specialist advice
