Independent Age
offers corporate volunteering programmes to suit any size of
organisation, be it a large national organisation or a small local
business.
We have lots of flexible volunteering opportunities to fit all
lifestyles and schedules, from staff putting on a Big Tea as a
one-off to popping in on an older person once in a while as a more
regular pattern of volunteering. As our visits to our older people
are undertaken on a flexible basis (there is no need to commit to a
regular time and day), it means your staff will never miss an
important meeting or event as a result of volunteering for
us.
Our volunteering opportunities are really flexible, and range from
giving just an hour a month to a one day one-off event.
Examples of corporate volunteering for Independent Age:
• A business may want to let their staff
volunteer for charity for two days per year as part of their
corporate social responsibility programme. Members of staff may
choose to take this as an hour away from the office, once a month,
to pop in for a cuppa with one of our members on their way home
from work. Therefore these staff choose to break up their two days
of volunteering across the year (amounting to twelve hours
annually)
• A medium-sized business wants to do something
for charity as a one-off and raise their profile in the local
community at the same time. They apply for a free Big Tea pack and
decide to hold an 'open Big Tea' in the office - inviting other
local businesses and promoting it to the public in the local area.
The staff get involved making cakes and scones from the recipes
included the pack, and this serves as a fun teambuilding exercise.
They decorate the office with Independent Age balloons and posters
-and then they're ready to go! The 'Open Big Tea' lets the staff
network and get to know other people in their local area. The
organisation also gains positive local media coverage in the local
papers for raising funds for a fantastic cause - so everyone is a
winner. (A Big Tea pack contains colourful recipe cards, balloons,
press releases, invitations and posters and more to really make
your event a success - and what's more, they're free!)
