Sign our e-petition (23 November)

Independent Age and our partners within the Care and Support Alliance have set up a petition on Direct.gov.uk to urge the government to accept the findings of the Dilnot Commission and translate its recommendations into real improvements to the social care system that can stand the test of time.

Dilnot proposes a cap on care bills - a national system of eligibility - a new advice and information service for families accessing care. We urge the Government to accept these recommendations in its White Paper on Social Care, which it has promised by Easter 2012.

If you support these changes, which we believe are fair, equitable and sustainable ways to improve a failing system that supports millions of older people then follow the link below and let the government know that change is needed.

Hear, hear - couldn't agree more. Will sign the e-petition. Well done on taking the initiative to propose the pricing cap, national system and more resources for carers.

This will take a great deal of anxiety away from individuals, carers and families. Let's hope common sense prevails.
